February

Typically in February I'm enjoying the long dark evenings where puzzles and games coupled with soup suppers create a warm fuzzy feeling while the "weather outside is frightful". But not this year. Instead I'm roaming Lowes on my day off making garden plans and the boys are outside on roller blades. I'm starting to feel as though I've not gotten my proper winter's nap! Hopefully before  winter is over we'll get enough snow at one point to go sledding.

Last week I washed a catalog....mark that down as another first! What a mess......and I thought Kleenexes were bad. Someone had evidently put it on the dryer and when I dumped a large load in it slid in with the dirty wash. Then last night I opened the dryer door and some little boy must have been collecting rubber band. Now if someone would just start leaving cash..........

Friday the boys and I cut down a tree by the area where we have our garden. It was a mulberry tree that drops berries in our garden every year making a mess. It was a nice day, we were itching to be outside, we have a hand saw, bye-bye tree!

Philip had to be out of town Friday evening (which is normally our family night) so we made special plans for Saturday late afternoon and evening. Most Saturdays there is a "Snakes Alive" program at the Creation Museum and so we decided to take the boys. We went to the last presentation of the day and there were only two people there besides our family which gave the boys many opportunities to handle the snakes. I held my camera with both hands taking lots of pictures so as not to appear a sissy. I've seen snakes.....killed 15 in my yard last year....thanks but I'll pass. I did get a boa dumped on me though and that was enough to give someone nightmares!

Now this picture..... the yellow thing is "Chiquita", a 5 year old, 100 pound boa, which translates, 100 pounds of wriggly nasty! Don't let the smile on my face fool you.....I'm a very good hypocrite because even as I write this the hair on the back of my neck is standing straight up and my body keeps doing this involuntary shiver!
Whew......since my guys seem to like them so well.....they can clear out any that appear in our yard this summer!

So....those are some of our highlights.....at least the ones I caught on camera!

Oh goodness, you are a much better mama that I am! Then again, I probably wouldn't be alone with the camera. I imagine Carli and Glen would jump off the "let's hold the boa!" bandwagon, while Olivia had it around her neck! :0

I have to be honest, I didn't read this post. I flipped through as fast as I could. Snakes=NIGHTMARES.....although I forget, you are the great Snake Slayer. :) You are a much braver woman than I could ever hope to be. I'm just doing good to touch the spiders and ants...snakes are definitely out of my jurisdiction.
