Apology
I know my blog is hideously ugly right now. I used to know how to change backgrounds and keep it neat but I've messed up something .... and I seem to be at a loss to figure it out. The skin just won't go away and everything I do just overlays like a watermark. So, bear with me....I'll read some more articles and perhaps pull my husband in on the case within the next few days and figure what I've done wrong.

At least you change the "skin" of your blog...mine rarely changes and when it does, it's just blogger tweeks. :)
It is a result of Blogger's new system. Try reverting back to the old templates which you can find in "Edit HTML" under "Design". At the bottom of the page you will see 2 options: Layout templates and Classic templates. You will want to choose "Revert to Classic Template".
